1. Who we are
Snapitup is a managed resale marketplace operating in Belize. We help private sellers in Belize sell second-hand items to private buyers in Belize. We coordinate payment, moderation, and courier handoff. The business is operated under Belize law.
2. How transactions work — the legal shape
Every Snapitup transaction is two transactions wearing one wrapper. When a buyer "buys an item from a seller" on Snapitup:
- The buyer pays Snapitup (not the seller).
- Snapitup acquires the item from the seller — Snapitup is the seller's counterparty.
- Snapitup delivers the item to the buyer via courier — Snapitup is the buyer's counterparty.
- After the courier confirms delivery and a short dispute-resolution window elapses, Snapitup pays the seller.
This is a principal-buyer / managed-marketplace model. Snapitup is the legal counterparty to both buyer and seller. Snapitup is not an escrow agent, fund custodian, or banking institution. Funds sent to Snapitup are not held in trust for either party — they are paid to Snapitup as the buyer's counterparty in the buyer-side transaction, and a separate disbursement is made to the seller in the seller-side transaction.
3. Buyer terms
By placing an order on Snapitup you agree that:
- Your contract for the item is with Snapitup, not the seller. Snapitup is liable to you for delivery and item conformity.
- You will pay the quoted price (item + courier + applicable fees + GST where enabled) before pickup. No payment, no pickup.
- You will not contact the seller off-platform. The platform masks phone numbers, emails, and social handles in messages; circumventing this is a breach.
- You have 48 hours from delivery to open a dispute if the item is not as described, damaged, or never arrived. After that window the sale is considered final.
- Refunds are issued by Snapitup from its own balance. You do not seek recovery from the seller directly.
4. Seller terms
By posting a listing on Snapitup you agree that:
- You own the item and have the legal right to sell it. Stolen goods, counterfeit items, and items prohibited by Belize law (firearms, narcotics, hazardous materials, live animals without permits, etc.) are not permitted.
- Snapitup is the counterparty in your sale. The buyer is not your counterparty — your invoice runs to Snapitup, and Snapitup pays you on the schedule set by your seller tier.
- You will confirm reservations honestly. If the item is no longer available, decline the reservation. Confirming an item you can't deliver is a breach.
- You will hand the item to the assigned courier in the same condition shown in the listing.
- You will not solicit off-platform payment or contact. Three confirmed off-platform-contact attempts result in account suspension.
- Snapitup may withhold or reverse a payout if a buyer dispute is opened during the dispute window, or if fraud is identified.
5. Fees and payouts
Snapitup charges a commission on each completed sale. Current rate is shown on /for-sellers and may change with at least 14 days' notice to active sellers. Founding sellers may receive a temporary commission waiver per the Founding Seller program terms in their welcome email.
Seller payouts are released after delivery + a tiered dispute window: 7 days for new sellers, 48 hours for verified sellers, 24 hours for trusted sellers. Payouts are issued via the seller's chosen method (bank transfer, DigiWallet, Ekyash, Stripe Connect, or in-platform credit). Bank transfer details are held encrypted at rest. Snapitup processes payouts in nightly batches.
6. Refunds and disputes
Buyers may open a dispute within 48 hours of delivery for: item not as described, item damaged on arrival, item never arrived, or item materially different from the listing. Snapitup acknowledges disputes within 24 hours and resolves within 7 days where possible. Outcomes include full refund, partial refund, or denial — at Snapitup's reasonable discretion based on the evidence. Refunds are paid from Snapitup's balance.
7. Moderation and suspension
Snapitup reviews listings before they appear publicly. Listings containing phone numbers, emails, or social handles in titles, descriptions, or images will be rejected — these channels exist to bypass the platform's protections and are explicitly prohibited. Repeated breaches result in listing removal, account warnings, and ultimately suspension.
8. Liability limits
Snapitup's total liability to any user for any single transaction is limited to the total amount paid by the buyer for that transaction (including courier and fees). Snapitup is not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages. Nothing in these terms excludes liability where such exclusion would be unenforceable under Belize consumer-protection law.
9. Privacy
Our handling of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy. You may download a copy of your data at any time from /profile/export.json.
